Willie Colon
http://myachillesrupture.com - I just saw this story about Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Tackle, Willie Colon, suffering an Achilles Tendon rupture today. The word on the street is that he will have more tests tomorrow to confirm the injury, but the Thompson Test is enough confirmation for this injury and I'm pretty sure any team trainer/physician would have conducted this.
Willie Colon is a big dude! This man stands 6'3", 315lbs at 27yrs of age and I wish him a smooth recovery and hope he does not put on too much weight due to the amount of healing he will be required to achieve in order to be ready for the field for the 2011 NFL season. I'm not familiar with the Steelers practice facility, but I'd bet the indoor area is utilizing some form of synthetic turf. The ESPN story does indicate that Colon was participating in agility drills when he sustained the injury. Hmmmmm... ***As a side note and peak into my mind, each time I saw the jersey of the Willie Colon who has played in the NFL for the last 5yrs, I would ALWAYS think of Puerto Rican trombonist and band leader, Willie Colón who is a beast in his own industry as well! :) ***
