Lions RB Mikel LeShoure

http://myachillesrupture.com - I've said it before and I will say it again.... I AM a Detroit Lions fan. Yes, it's true.....it is VERY true. ;) That's my team and I have incredibly high hopes for them in the 2011-2012 NFL season. My cast was even the color of Honolulu Blue. LOL!

We had a setback in training camp today. Our second round draft pick, Mikel LeShoure tore his Achilles Tendon and is out for the rest of the year. I have been watching this guy for the past few weeks and it's a shame that this is how he has to start his promising pro career. Obviously, the position of Running Back is dependent upon foot work, speed, strength and power. The fact that LeShoure is 21 years old is a major advantage in dealing with this injury. Being that the team has a vested interest in his return for next season, I expect he will get incredible care and rehabilitation. I'd love to interview him in a few months. Lions PR, are you listening? :) I'll be watching to see how his explosiveness compares upon his return. It should be interesting.

Get well Mikel!! We need you, man!!

Willie Colon

Amd_willie-colon

http://myachillesrupture.com - I just saw this story about Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Tackle, Willie Colon, suffering an Achilles Tendon rupture today. The word on the street is that he will have more tests tomorrow to confirm the injury, but the Thompson Test is enough confirmation for this injury and I'm pretty sure any team trainer/physician would have conducted this.

Willie Colon is a big dude! This man stands 6'3", 315lbs at 27yrs of age and I wish him a smooth recovery and hope he does not put on too much weight due to the amount of healing he will be required to achieve in order to be ready for the field for the 2011 NFL season.

I'm not familiar with the Steelers practice facility, but I'd bet the indoor area is utilizing some form of synthetic turf. The ESPN story does indicate that Colon was participating in agility drills when he sustained the injury. Hmmmmm...

***As a side note and peak into my mind, each time I saw the jersey of the Willie Colon who has played in the NFL for the last 5yrs, I would ALWAYS think of Puerto Rican trombonist and band leader, Willie Colón who is a beast in his own industry as well! :) ***
