March 2011 Update

http://myachillesrupture.com - Here's a long overdue update. I share my thoughts on the Capoeira class I have been taking, changes in workouts, conversations with people regarding the Achilles Tendon rupture injury.

If you are going through this injury, I know exactly what you are going through and would be happy to share any specific aspect of my experience with you. I recommend talking with someone who you can relate to and/or feel comfortable with. The mental component of this injury is much more significant than the physical component regardless of if you have elected to have a surgical repair or not.

Cartwheels & Chairs

I'm two weeks into my Capoeira class and wanted to share some thoughts while I was doing some movements in the class. I'm just over 18mos post op from my Achilles Tendon rupture injury and feel very fortunate to be as far along in this lengthy healing process as I am. I won't be running any marathons anytime soon, but I'm enjoying the process of improving and learning. Practicing Capoeira came at a very good time for me and I look forward to gaining more experience within the art form. Never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new things; you just might enjoy them. :)

Capoeira!!!

http://myachillesrupture.com - Sharing an update on a new endeavor of physical performance that I am participating in. It is known as Capoeira and I'm really excited about it. I'm almost 18mos post op from my Achilles Tendon rupture injury, subsequent surgery and 3.5most of formal physical therapy that I engaged in. I feel really good these days and am hopeful that practicing Capoeira will provide immense benefit in my quest to further increase my strength, stamina and overall flexibility.

Sole Technology

 - http://myachillesrupture.com I share my thoughts on a recent Newsweek article [http://www.newsweek.com/2010/10/14/will-toning-footwear-get-you-in-shape.all.html] and how it can provide benefit(s) to anyone with recovery in mind from an Achilles Tendon Rupture injury and the return to peak physical performance or at least an elevated level of mobility and well-being. :)

New Vibrams!!

http://myachillesrupture.com - Unboxing/initial impressions of a new Vibram Five Fingers model that I ordered. I'm 17mos post-op from my Achilles Tendon rupture injury and can comfortably say that the VFF has been an excellent product for my continued pursuit of peak physical performance. I hope to incorporate this model into my workouts to gain even more improvement.

Challenge Convention!

http://myachillesrupture.com - This video explains my thoughts on the idea of challenging conventional wisdom when it comes to physical activities that one can perform when they are rehabbing from an Achilles Tendon rupture injury. There's no need to believe that you *MUST* have a certain brand of gear or that you *MUST* follow the same routine each time. The idea is to do something and avoid plateaus in your training/workouts because remaining on a plateau for an extended period of time is not a useful place to be.

I said all of this to really just translate into HAVE FUN! :)

A Good Day To Cross-Train!

http://myachillesrupture.com - Today was a day I was thinking about for the entire week since I was planning on getting in a long session of Cross-Training exercises. The day was perfect and I did some mountain biking, Nike Free training, Vibram Five Fingers training and some other track movements that felt great!

It's important to remember no matter what stage of your Achilles Tendon rupture injury, healing, rehabilitation and subsequent quest to return to your desired physical performance to limit the time spent on plateaus. Don't worry since we all reach a plateau in our training sooner or later. :) Don't rush and be smart.

Camelbak Cloud Walker

http://myachillesrupture.com - I recently bought my first Camelbak. This hydration pack (70oz/2L) will primarily be used for mountain biking and day hikes, but is versatile enough to be used during any family outing as well.

This video is of my first impressions and I'll do complete review in a few weeks when I have used the product enough to offer more details and a worthwhile opinion.

As I continue to recover/gain strength from my Achilles Tendon rupture injury, I look for smart and functional products that are high value and enjoy giving my impression of these products. I will never recommend something I have not used myself and will always give the pros/cons of said product.

Do you have a Camelbak Cloud Walker or any other Camelbak? I'd love to hear about it.
